Staff Profile

I served as Examiner for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for three years for both the school (May/June) and public (Nov/Dec) Examinations; as Chair, Research and Publications Unit, and as Editor-in-Chief, School of Business Journal, Federal Polytechnic Ede between June 2009 and June 2011. I have been a resource person at various capacity building workshops for English Language teachers organized by the Osun State University, Osogbo (2010); by a private College in Osogbo (2011, 2022); and at different times between 2012 and 2014 at the National Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) workshops in Lagos for the development and assessment of English Language Reading Curriculum for the Primary and Junior Secondary Schools. I have worked with graduate students to secure overseas scholarships by writing recommendations on them for postgraduate studies and a number of them have been successful. I have been co-editor for a 670-page book: Ayo Osisanwo, Waheed Bamigbade, Ebuka Igwebuike and Akin Tella (Eds.) (2020). Applied Linguistics, Linguistic Variations and English Usage in the Nigerian Context: A Festschrift for Moses Alo; and I reviewed manuscripts for the book: Ademilokun M.A., Onanuga, P., Oamen, F. Alfred, B. (2021). Critical Discourse Analysis and the Linguistics of Social Medial Interaction: A Festschrift for Rotimi Taiwo. In 2012, I created a Facebook Group called Ẹwà Èdèe Yorùbá to promote Yoruba as Mother Tongue, focusing on the Yoruba Language usage, standard writing, proverbs, literary and creative writings, creative oral renditions, proficiency and fluency, and serving as a resource for linguistic research. Membership – mainly Yoruba speakers – currently stands at 4,211. I am Convener (2022 till date) for the establishment of a registered and thriving online newspaper and TV, Integrity News Nigeria (i-News Nigeria) as a player in the global media space. I am a member of the Pragmatic Point, a scholarly research team of academics on Pragmatics focusing on on-going manuscripts, paper presentations, regular discourse on theories in the field, and sharing of publication, fellowship, and grant opportunities for members.
